John Stamos Supports Dave Coulier Amid Cancer Battle
John Stamos, known for his role in Full House, shared a moving message on social media for his costar Dave Coulier, who disclosed his cancer diagnosis on November 13.
Stamos promised to be a reliable source of support for Coulier. "My brother from day 1," he stated on Instagram, posting a carousel of images capturing their time together. He added, "Love you @dcoulier, and I’ll be by your side through it all."
Coulier, 65, expressed the need to inform his Full House family about his stage 3 Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma before the public. He informed his castmates, including Andrea Barber, Candace Cameron Bure, and more, via a group chat. "I didn't want them to hear it from someone else," Coulier explained to People, sharing that he sent a text message to keep them updated.
Reflecting on the immense support he received, he noted the significance of their long-standing bond. "It really is overwhelming the love that we have for each other," he remarked. "We've been there for so many years for each other, and it's pretty remarkable."
During his appearance on Today, Coulier revealed he received his diagnosis just five weeks prior. He reported, "In that time, I've had three surgeries, I've had chemo, I've lost a little bit of hair." He humorously described himself, saying, "I kind of look like a little baby bird now, but it has been a roller coaster ride for sure."
Although he acknowledged the gravity of his condition, stating it's "90 plus percent" curable, he shared with wife Melissa Bring that he came to terms with any potential outcome. "I told Melissa I don’t know why, but I [am] OK with whatever the news [is] going to be," he shared in a phone interview. "I've had an incredible life. This has been an extraordinary journey, and I’m OK if this is the end of the journey."
