JoJo Siwa Shaves Sides of Her Head, Debuts Rainbow Mohawk at GLAAD Media Awards

JoJo Siwa is capturing attention once again!
Only ten days after showcasing a sparkling circular headpiece at the iHeart Music Awards, the dynamic dancer and singer premiered a striking new hairstyle at the GLAAD Media Awards held in Los Angeles on Thursday, March 27.
Siwa, aged 21, appeared with the sides of her head shaved for a distinctive mohawk style. One side of her head featured rainbow colors in alignment with the Pride flag, while the other side was adorned in light blue, pink, and white to reflect the transgender flag. The white section sparkled with jewels for added flair.

The mohawk itself had a bleached, dirty blonde appearance. Her commitment to LGBTQ+ rights went further, as Siwa donned a jacket filled with rainbow and transgender flag imagery. The bold lettering proclaimed, "Trans rights are human rights."
On the back of her jacket, a shield with crossed swords displayed the message "Protect trans kids." Bedazzled shorts and high-top sneakers rounded out her glittering ensemble.
Siwa rose to prominence through the reality show "Dance Moms," eventually transitioning her talent into a successful pop music career.

In January 2021, inspired by multiple TikTok and Instagram posts, Siwa publicly identified as LGBTQ. She stated, "I never wanted my coming out to be a big deal." Siwa, only 17 at the time, shared, "I’ve known since I was little." Her mother, Jessalynn, affirmed, "A mother knows."

At the GLAAD Media Awards, Siwa was accompanied by Kath Ebbs, her reported romantic partner since last December. The pair shared affectionate moments, including Siwa planting a kiss on Ebb's cheek.

Earlier this week, the "Karma" singer announced plans for her upcoming North American tour along with VIP packages allowing fans to support her crew during set-up at various locations.
The GLAAD Media Awards celebrate media personalities who significantly contribute to fair, accurate, and inclusive representation of the LGBTQ+ community. This event originally commenced in 1990, as noted on the GLAAD website.
