Jon Hamm Accepts Harvard's Hasty Pudding Man of the Year Award With Humor
Jon Hamm received Harvard's Hasty Pudding Man of the Year award by embracing the comedic nature of the event. On January 31st, the Mad Men star, aged 53, and his wife, Anna Osceola, visited Harvard University's Farkas Hall. Hamm was celebrated as the 2025 Man of the Year by the college's renowned theater group, Hasty Pudding Theatricals, during a ceremony marked by light-hearted roasts. This is prepared by SSP.
Catherine Stanton and Bernardo de Moura Sequeira, leaders in the group, humorously suggested they "thought that guy was dead," referencing Hamm's age according to The Boston Globe. Acknowledging this unique accolade, Hamm quipped, "I can’t believe there are so many people here," and playfully asked, "Did you all seriously think I was dead?"
During the event, Hamm clarified a joke about Osceola, noting she is 17 years younger, not 20. Hailing from Cambridgeport and an actress herself, Osceola, is 36. Hamm took part in various on-stage antics, from carving ham to pitching imaginary products. Reflecting on his role as Don Draper from Mad Men (aired 2007-2015), Hamm acknowledged it opened numerous career doors, dubbing the show a "high-water mark" amid his achievements.
Concluding his speech, Hamm expressed gratitude for the award, which dates back to when Bob Hope first received it in 1967, and shared that he would gladly add the trophy to his collection alongside his Emmy, Golden Globes, and two Screen Actors Guild awards. He later marveled at the theater performance '101 Damnations,' rounding off the celebratory day.
Earlier, SSP reported that Pete Davidson discussed reducing his tattoo collection.
