Julianne Hough Evacuates As Fire Threatens Hollywood Hills
Julianne Hough has evacuated her Hollywood Hills residence due to a raging fire nearby. She shared her ordeal on Instagram Stories on January 8.
In a recorded clip from her home, Hough stated, "OK, so, there is a fire right by my house." She continued, "We’re with friends, but anybody that’s in the Hollywood Hills, I’ve just been having this intuitive feeling that we’re in a bowl of how everything is surrounding Hollywood, and now this is at the center of Hollywood. Everybody needs to just evacuate. Go, go, go, go, go. Right now."
Later, Hough posted an update while driving with her dog, Sunny. She expressed urgency for others to evacuate, saying, "Sunny and I are safe and we’re driving, but the reason why I say ‘evacuate now,’ even if it’s not close to you, if you have somewhere to go, there’s traffic. And you’re gonna be stuck in traffic. And that is not good." Hough urged her followers to stay safe and send prayers to the first responders.
Meanwhile, wildfires are wreaking havoc across Los Angeles, threatening many homes, including those of several celebrities. An intense windstorm, driven by Santa Ana gusts, ignited fast-moving brush fires at approximately 10 a.m. on January 7. Numerous drivers on Sunset Boulevard and Palisades Drive had to abandon their vehicles in search of safety.
On the night of January 8, a new wildfire, named the Sunset Fire, erupted in the Hollywood Hills, the famous area where the Hollywood Sign is located, as reported by The New York Times. The city has ordered evacuations for local residents, many of whom work in the entertainment sector.
Since the fires began, several celebrities, including Paris Hilton, Anna Faris, and Billy Crystal, have faced loss of their homes. Hilton expressed her devastation, stating she was "heartbroken beyond words" over losing her Malibu residence.
"Sitting with my family, watching the news, and seeing our home in Malibu burn to the ground on live TV is something no one should ever have to experience," she wrote via Instagram. "This home was where we built so many precious memories."
