Kate Cassidy Returns to TikTok With Heartfelt Video Tribute to Liam Payne
Kate Cassidy has made her return to TikTok, sharing an emotional video tribute to her late boyfriend, Liam Payne.
On Sunday, December 8, Cassidy, 25, posted a compilation video featuring her cherished moments with the One Direction star, who tragically passed away at 31 after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires on October 16.
The post was captioned, "I love you." It opened with clips of Cassidy and Payne exchanging kisses for the camera, followed by various outings and adventures together. A particularly touching segment showed the couple dancing closely, wrapped in each other's arms.
Intermixed with quieter scenes were light-hearted memories. The video featured clips of Payne, who traveled with Cassidy just two weeks before his death, humorously dragging her legs across their kitchen floor and enjoying a bowling outing.
Cassidy curated the one and a half-minute video to highlight joyful moments, including clips of Payne playfully engaging with the camera, lounging on the couch with her, and sleeping beside her.
The video was paired with the 1993 track "Fade Into You" by Mazzy Star.
Cassidy's TikTok return follows her last public appearance in central London, where she appeared emotional after attending Payne’s November 20 funeral. Dressed in a long coat and sweatpants, she was spotted walking in a coffee shop on November 29, holding a coffee cup.
Cassidy and Payne were first linked in October 2022. Notable attendees at his funeral included former One Direction members Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik. Cheryl Cole, the mother of Payne's son Bear, 7, was also present, along with James Corden and Simon Cowell.
As confirmed by Us Weekly, Payne died on October 16 after falling from his hotel’s third-story balcony. Buenos Aires emergency services chief, Alberto Crescenti, reported that the singer incurred serious injuries, which were deemed untreatable by the time responders arrived.
Three individuals, including Payne’s friend Rogelio "Roger" Nores, faced charges related to abandonment leading to death and facilitating narcotics. In a statement to the Daily Mail on November 7, Nores asserted, "I never abandoned Liam. I was at his hotel three times that day and left about 40 minutes before the incident." He noted that over 15 people were at the hotel lobby, chatting with Payne when he departed.
On Tuesday, December 3, TMZ reported that a judge allowed Argentina's national prosecutors to proceed in investigating Nores' role in Payne’s death. However, Nores’ legal team filed documents requesting that the case be handled by local Buenos Aires prosecutors.
