Kate Hudson and Hugh Jackman Star in "Song Sung Blue"
Kate Hudson and Hugh Jackman are set to star in a new musical film titled "Song Sung Blue," based on Greg Kohs' 2008 documentary about a real-life couple, Mike and Claire Sardina, who perform as a Neil Diamond tribute band, "Lightning & Thunder." Written and directed by Craig Brewer, celebrated for "Hustle & Flow," the musical drama follows the inspiring journey of these down-on-their-luck Milwaukee musicians whose persistent dedication to music elevates them to local fame. Additional cast members include Michael Imperioli, Fisher Stevens, Jim Belushi, Ella Anderson, King Princess, Mustafa Shakir, and Hudson Hilbert Hensley.
Developed by Focus Features with worldwide distribution managed by Universal Pictures, the film began production on October 14 under Brewer's direction, with producers John Davis and John Fox from Davis Entertainment. Erika Hampson and Greg Kohs act as executive producers. On social media, Jackman and Hudson enthusiastically shared the news of the project with their followers, highlighting their roles in this film, which features Jackman and Hudson as Claire and Mike Sardina, respectively.
Both stars come with strong musical credentials. Jackman is well-known for his performances in "Les Misérables" (2012) and "The Greatest Showman" (2017) and is currently planning a concert series at Radio City Music Hall. Meanwhile, Hudson, who charmed audiences in "Almost Famous" (2000), recently signed with Virgin Records to release her first album, *Glorious*. Reflecting on her life experiences, Hudson considers the music a reflection of her journey, filled with both challenges and joy from her personal and familial connections. This film's dynamic blend of drama, music, and real-life inspiration eagerly anticipates captivating audiences globally.
