Katie Thurston and Jeff Arcuri Spend Their Honeymoon in the Hospital

Katie Thurston and her husband, Jeff Arcuri, creatively navigated a challenging situation during their honeymoon.
In an Instagram Story video shared on Sunday, March 23, Thurston, 34, remarked, "So, Jeff and I are celebrating our honeymoon with some drinks." She filmed her partner while showing their drinks on the table in the hospital room. "Cheers, baby," she joked as they toasted with their bottles. "To [being] husband and wife!"
Thurston captioned the video, "Honeymoon at Columbia [Presbyterian Hospital] with some mocktails." Although the former Bachelorette did not reveal the purpose of her hospital visit, she is currently fighting stage 3 breast cancer.

In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly earlier in the month, Arcuri shared that they were "getting married in two days." The couple tied the knot in a private backyard ceremony on Saturday, March 22. Arcuri noted how Thurston’s cancer diagnosis affected their wedding plans, stating, "You would think it would cause more tribulation or problems, but it’s bonded us more than anything else, which is why we’re moving up the wedding a little bit."
Thurston described their intimate wedding as "so sweet." She explained, "Obviously, we were wanting to plan a wedding, and there’s a lot of emotions that come with chemo and health uncertainties. One night, he said, ‘I want to show you that I still love you and that I’m here to stay. I’ll get married to you tomorrow.’ We flew our parents in from Michigan and Washington State, got our marriage license, and a friend is just gonna marry us."

The newlyweds also told Us Weekly about their intentions to hold a larger wedding after Thurston finishes her cancer treatment. "It was this kind gesture of him saying, truly, in sickness and in health," Thurston praised. "He is proving that he’s here to stay. He shows up every day in ways that continue to surprise me."
Thurston and Arcuri became engaged in September 2024 after less than one year of dating. Several months later, Thurston announced her breast cancer diagnosis through social media. She conveyed, "This is day one of sharing and is going to be a long one." She added, "This first step of acceptance of my reality was the hardest. But I am ready to fight this."
Through her health struggles, Arcuri has consistently supported his wife, even postponing several comedy shows last month to be with her during treatment. Thurston expressed her gratitude, stating, "I’ll forever be so thankful for this selfless act," in a response on her Instagram Story on February 20.
