Katy Perry Addresses Conspiracy Theory Linking Her to JonBenét Ramsey

Katy Perry has addressed a longstanding conspiracy theory linking her to JonBenét Ramsey, the murdered child beauty queen. This rumor has circulated for over a decade and claims the two are the same person.
The "Firework" singer reacted to an Instagram post featuring an AI-generated video. This video depicted JonBenét transforming into Perry, nodding to a conspiracy suggesting that JonBenét's murder in 1996 was fake. On March 1, Katy, 40, commented on the post, questioning, "wait am i."
JonBenét, aged six, was discovered beaten and strangled in her parents' basement in Boulder, Colorado. Her parents, Patsy and John Ramsey, have faced ongoing agony since her tragic death, which has never been solved. Several documentaries have sparked numerous conspiracy theories, but no one has faced charges.
JonBenét's father remains determined to solve the case. The 81-year-old recently met with Boulder’s new police chief, Steve Redfearn. He claimed this meeting was the first time he felt hopeful about the investigation in 28 years, according to an NBC News report from January 29.
"They were open to sincerely discuss the case," he noted. "I'm very impressed with the caliber of the leadership now, and that gave me great hope."
John Ramsey, who tragically discovered his daughter's body, believes that forensic genetic genealogy could eventually lead to answers. He stated, "That’s how it’s going to get solved."
In November, after the release of Netflix's three-part documentary titled Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey, Boulder's police chief addressed criticism regarding the investigation's handling. Chief Redfearn acknowledged past mistakes but affirmed the department's commitment.
"There are things people have pointed out that could have been done better, and we recognize that is true," he said in a video posted on X.
"However, it is essential to emphasize that while we cannot go back to that horrible day in 1996, our goal remains to find JonBenét Ramsey’s killer. Our commitment has never wavered."
