Kelly Clarkson Seems to Subtly Address Ex-Husband Brandon Blackstock

Kelly Clarkson appears to take a subtle jab at her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock.
On March 27, during her appearance on Kylie Kelce’s podcast, "Not Gonna Lie," Clarkson discussed being a working mother. Both mothers recognized that their children often do not give them an easy time about their jobs, while fathers are treated differently.
Kylie Kelce, referring to her five-year-old daughter Wyatt, explained, "Our oldest hit me with, ‘Oh, is it you’re leaving because you don’t love me?’" Kaylie and her husband, Jason Kelce, also share daughters Elliotte, 4, and Bennett, 2, and they are expecting another baby girl.
Kylie added, "I explained to her about when dad travels during football season. I said, ‘You know when dad leaves for work? Does dad want to leave?’" Kylie mentioned that Wyatt instinctively said, "No." Kylie responded, "So do you think mom wants to leave for work?" Wyatt replied, "Well, I just think you could say no."

Clarkson pointed out how inherently children perceive this unequal treatment between parents. "It's funny. Even from a young age, we didn’t teach them this difference. But it’s interesting that they think dad is allowed to be somewhere, but you aren’t," she stated. "There’s a lot that I keep in… Because coparenting is fun."
Clarkson, who shares daughter River, 10, and son Remy, 8, with Blackstock, remarked, "It's like he couldn't come because of this. I’m just supposed to leave and sit in the park all day? It’s funny, but it’s ingrained in them."
She added, "I always tell my son, ‘Yes, mommy does work, and that’s okay.’ Both women and men work. This is normal."

Clarkson was married to Blackstock for seven years, and they announced their separation in 2020. Their split led to a prolonged legal dispute over custody and support. Although Clarkson does not often discuss this drama in public, she continues to take subtle digs at her ex.
Recently, Clarkson reflected on everything she has endured in the past few years during the celebration of her talk show’s 1,000th episode.
"For 1,000 episodes, we laughed, cried, sang, and even danced together," longtime fans heard her say during the March 20 episode. "I’ve lost so much and found comfort in each of you. Looking back, we should all be proud of what we’ve built and the community we’ve formed."
