Kelly Mi Li Shares a Motherhood Update, Admits Feeling 'Guilt' Being Away from Daughter
Kelly Mi Li, known for her role in "Bling Empire," has opened up about her experiences as a new mother. She welcomed her daughter Mili with partner William Ma in April 2023. Recently, at the Unforgettable: The 22nd Annual Asian American Awards, she shared insights on being a parent.
Mili, now 20 months old, has been a joyful addition to Kelly's life. While attending the awards at the Beverly Hilton, Kelly candidly expressed her feelings on motherhood. "How much guilt I have for being here right now!" she responded when asked what surprised her most about being a mom. "I'm kidding, but seriously, the mom guilt is so real," she added. She reflected that Mili probably does not mind her absence, likely enjoying time with her grandmothers.
Kelly’s relationship with her mother, Emily, faced challenges that were showcased in *Bling Empire*. Mili's birth marked an important turning point, alongside their venture into chili sauce with Hot Jiang. One insightful piece of advice from her mom stands out for Kelly: "Don’t be as hard on her as she was on me." This thought resonates with Kelly as she navigates motherhood.
While discussing Mili's growth, Kelly shared milestones regarding her vocabulary. She humorously noted, "Well, she's learning new words now, but her favorite word is still 'no.'" Indeed, Mili's responses are often accompanied by lively defiance. "Do you want this? 'No.' Do you like this? 'No.' Like, such an attitude. I love it!" Kelly chuckled, emphasizing her love for Mili's spirited personality.
Regarding the possibility of expanding their family, Kelly is uncertain. She expressed her desire to provide Mili with siblings, referencing her own experience as a single child. "I want her to experience what I didn't experience," she shared. Thoughts of adding to their family linger, suggesting a hopeful future.
