Khloé Kardashian Discusses the Moment That Ended Her Marriage to Lamar Odom
Khloé Kardashian reflected on the emotional confrontation that marked the end of her challenging marriage to Lamar Odom. During the January 29 episode of her podcast, Khloé in Wonderland, Kardashian revealed a pivotal moment in 2013 that pushed her to file for divorce from Odom.
At 40 years old, Kardashian recounted a conversation that made her realize how much she valued Odom's basketball career compared to how much he valued it. "I was married, and my ex-husband had a drug addiction," she explained. "His addiction escalated when he was off-season. I begged him to attend Team USA camp, but he said, ‘You can’t want it more than I do.’" This moment underscored the issues in their relationship.
Kardashian and Odom, now 45, married in 2009 after a brief romance. Their marriage rapidly deteriorated, plagued by infidelity and addiction. Despite her efforts to support him, their struggles proved insurmountable. "Hearing him say, ‘You can’t want it more than me’ was profound," Kardashian shared. "It struck me deeply. I wanted to help, but he wasn’t ready. This realization led to my decision to file for divorce." She identified that moment as critical in her life.
Their divorce was finalized in 2016, following Odom's near-fatal overdose in 2015. Fortunately, Odom has since made significant progress and established a chain of addiction treatment centers. After appearing in the season six trailer of *The Kardashians*, rumors of a possible reconciliation emerged. However, Odom later stated on "The Kyle and Jackie O Show" that he values friendship with Kardashian.
In the podcast, Kardashian also delved into the challenges of her relationship with Tristan Thompson. She shared her thoughts about allowing Thompson in the hospital during the birth of their daughter, True, just days after discovering his infidelity. "When Tristan had an affair publicly, I gave birth 48 hours later," she recalled. "People questioned if I wanted him there. I said, ‘Yes, let’s all pretend,’ for my daughter’s sake."
Ultimately, Kardashian wanted True to know that her father was present at her birth. "I wanted my daughter to see that her dad was there on film. We all acted as if nothing happened." She expressed sadness when reflecting on that period of her life, noting how she felt detached during the experience. "I went into autopilot. I was not present, even though my body was there," she said.
In addition to True, Kardashian and Thompson also share a son named Tatum, who is 2 years old.
