Kid Cudi Addresses Disturbing Break-In by ‘Unhinged Fan’
Kid Cudi recently shared a troubling experience regarding a fan interaction. On January 23, he used his Instagram Story to reveal that an "unhinged fan" had broken into his home. He responded directly to online trolls who mocked the incident.
"Hey, I want to clear this up since I see the internet making jokes, and this is not funny," he stated. The rapper explained that the intruder had stalked him for years without his awareness. The individual has attended various shows and events, both in the U.S. and internationally.
In his detailed message, Kid Cudi elaborated on the frightening lengths the stalker went to gain access to him. "He drove across the country and broke into my house, hoping to talk about collaboration ideas," Cudi explained. The violation of his privacy made him extremely uncomfortable. The intruder rummaged through personal items and even used his shower and kitchen, foolishly believing they would have a conversation. "This is a crazed 34-year-old man, not someone who is homeless," he emphasized.
As a precaution, Kid Cudi mentioned his plans to enhance his security measures after this incident. He feels increasingly tense about meeting fans now. "I’m taking serious security measures to ensure this doesn’t happen again," he wrote. He noted that he was unaware of comments circulating online but found it unacceptable that people were taking the situation lightly. Cudi expressed that if he seems distant in public, it stems from the recent violation of his privacy.
TMZ noted that, on January 16, police apprehended the intruder at Cudi's Los Angeles residence after he was seen on security footage. Kid Cudi was not at home during the incident. Earlier this month, Kid Cudi also had to evacuate due to major wildfires affecting parts of Los Angeles.
"Hey guys, had to evacuate my crib," he shared during that emergency. "I’m safe with my loved ones, and my dogs are safe. For those who lost their homes, my heart aches for you. I’m praying for us all and sending my love to you. If you have to evacuate, do it immediately. Stay safe, LA. Love you all."
