King Charles III Wears a Kilt in New Photo for Burns Night Celebration
The new image, captured by royal photographer Millie Pilkington, features King Charles III during last autumn. Published by Buckingham Palace on January 25, this photograph honors the upcoming Burns Night, celebrated annually to commemorate the life and birthday of Scottish poet Robert Burns, PEOPLE reported.
In this official photo, the 76-year-old King wears a kilt designed from the King Charles III tartan. His outfit includes a waistcoat and a suit jacket, neatly complementing the kilt. The backdrop of the image showcases the library at Balmoral, the Royal Family's Scottish estate in Aberdeenshire.
Millie Pilkington has often documented royal events. Besides Charles, her work has included capturing various moments for Queen Camilla, Prince William, and Kate Middleton.
The Royal Family shared the new image on their official Instagram, wishing everyone a joyful Burns Night.
King Charles recently held his first official royal event of 2025 while still undergoing cancer treatment. This event took place on January 13 and focused on Holocaust memorials and education. The King met representatives from three organizations dedicated to educating youth about the Holocaust at Buckingham Palace in London.
On January 27, specifically on Holocaust Memorial Day, King Charles will travel to Poland. This visit marks the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp. During this trip, he will meet with Polish President Andrzej Duda and various world leaders.
King Charles’ planned visit to Poland will be significant, as this trip stands as his fifth to the country. His last visit occurred in 2008, alongside Queen Camilla.
