LA Fires: Miley Cyrus Reflects on Losing Her Home in 2018
As the Los Angeles wildfires rage on, Miley Cyrus is sharing a poignant reminder of her past. She experienced significant loss when she and her ex-partner Liam Hemsworth lost their Malibu home to wildfire in 2018.
Cyrus looks back at that painful moment. On January 11, she shared a black-and-white photo of the debris on her front porch, describing it as both haunting and unforgettable. "This image hits me hard in the heart today," she captioned the post. "This is a photo of my front porch in 2018 after losing our house in the Woolsey fires. It’s a feeling you don’t ever forget."
Recalling the intimate details, she continued, "Walking up to the door you would pass through daily, looking forward to being greeted by loved ones, only to be met by ash and rubble."
Miley expressed deep empathy for those currently experiencing loss. "My soul aches for those who are experiencing this devastation firsthand, and I cry for my city," she articulated. "It’s beyond heartbreaking. Los Angeles embodies 'living the dream,' yet the reality today is wreckage and destruction."
In an effort to provide aid, Miley shared links to organizations she supports.
She emphasized that "time, resources, and dedication from both inside and outside our community will heal us," noting the immediate pain felt by many.
Her recollection arises more than a year after she reflected on her lost home in a TikTok video.
In August 2023, she recalled, "The Meet Miley Cyrus record marked the beginning of my journey writing solo songs." She described how that memorable house in Ramirez Canyon had magical significance, as it profoundly impacted her life before it was consumed by the flames.
