Lady Gaga delivered a poignant tribute to the victims of the New Orleans New Year's attack that claimed 14 lives. This performance took place just before the kickoff for Super Bowl 2025 at Caesars Superdome on February 9.

In a heartfelt moment at the heart of Bourbon Street, the singer of "Bad Romance" performed "Hold My Hand." This surprise performance occurred just before the matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans.

A Stunning Visual Performance

Wearing a flowing white gown paired with a large, matching hat, Gaga passionately sang her Oscar-nominated song. Surrounding her were first responders, including Louisiana State Police and New Orleans police officers, all engaging with her emotive delivery. A live band and a soulful choir enhanced the powerful rendition.

The performance follows a harrowing month in which a truck attack resulted in 15 casualties, including the attacker. Michael Strahan, donning a "NOLA Strong" shirt, and former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady opened the event with a message of resilience and solidarity.

Tom Brady stated, "The resilience of New Orleans is matched with the resolve of our country." As he walked toward Gaga alongside the crowd, he emphasized that when faced with tragedy, the community unites and overcomes adversity. "We rise above and never let evil win," he added.

Strahan acknowledged other communities across the U.S. grappling with various calamities, including the wildfires in Southern California and the American Airlines collision over the Potomac River. He expressed the collective sorrow felt nationwide, highlighting the importance of unity: "As we prepare for sports' biggest day, we gather together with heavy hearts for our families and friends."
