Lily Collins Celebrates First Birthday as a Mom: 'I Truly Couldn't Be Happier'

Lily Collins and her husband, Charlie McDowell, are enjoying their first year as parents. Collins took to Instagram on March 18 to celebrate her 36th birthday, sharing heartwarming family photos, PEOPLE reported. The images feature Collins alongside McDowell, holding their baby daughter, Tove Jane, born on January 31.

In her post, Collins expressed her joy, saying, "First birthday as a mama and I truly couldn’t be happier or imagine it being any more special." She reflected on the past year, noting, "What a magical year it’s been and what a beautiful year I’m stepping into."

McDowell also shared a sweet tribute for his wife on her birthday. He posted a touching black-and-white image of Collins gazing at their daughter. He wrote, "Happy birthday to my stunning wife. You are patient, kind, hilarious, and so loving to our beautiful Tove." He added that both he and Tove are lucky to have her in their lives, concluding with, "I love you forever. Happiest birthday mama."

Collins replied with gratitude, saying, "Love you so much and couldn’t have imagined a more perfect way to welcome this new year." She described the day with their little family as "the most special."

The couple welcomed Tove via surrogate earlier this year. They announced this joyful news with a joint post celebrating their daughter’s arrival: "Welcome to the center of our world Tove Jane McDowell."

They also expressed immense gratitude for their surrogate and supporters, stating, "Words will never express our endless gratitude for our incredible surrogate and everyone who helped us along the way. We love you to the moon and back again."
