Linda Evangelista Shares Emotional Moment Revealing Mastectomy Scars

On February 19, supermodel Linda Evangelista, now 59, discussed a powerful moment from her journey with breast cancer. At Shiseido’s Potential Has No Age Summit, she reflected on the first time she revealed her mastectomy scars to friends. Evangelista highlighted how this experience made her feel beautiful and supported.
During the event, Evangelista joined a panel, "Facing the Pressures to Look Youthful," alongside Jenna Lyons and Shiseido chief marketing officer, Agnes Landau. Reflecting on a memorable day, she described a photoshoot for Zeit Magazine in February 2024, capturing her in a shirtless look with a jean jacket, directed by Cass Bird.

"When I was changing, they asked to see my…," she stated. "I had a double mastectomy and I hadn't shown anyone but my family." Upon revealing her scars, her friends described them as "so beautiful." This affirmation helped ease Evangelista's doubts, explaining, "I should have known that it is beautiful. They made me feel beautiful." Following this encouragement, she confidently agreed to take her shirt off for the photoshoot.

Evangelista emphasized the importance of women's support for one another. "I'm beautiful, but I needed to hear it from someone else," she admitted. "I think it's vital that as women, we uplift each other. We're all in this together."
In September 2023, Evangelista spoke to WSJ. Magazine about her breast cancer journey. After a 2018 diagnosis revealing "poor margins" during a mammogram, she opted for a bilateral mastectomy. Unfortunately, the cancer returned in July 2022. Exhibiting resilience, she instructed her oncologist firmly, "Dig a hole in my chest. I want you to excavate. I’m not dying from this."

Later, on The View, she remarked, "I'm okay with scars. I think scars are trophies." The Shiseido event coincided with the introduction of their Vital Perfection Concentrated Supreme Cream.
During the panel, Evangelista shared insights into her skincare routine. "I wear sunscreen every day, even in winter," she noted, mentioning it's incorporated into her moisturizer during colder months. She also acknowledged the importance of a balanced diet and exercise.
Evangelista's final skincare tip stresses commitment: "Finish the bottle when trying new products." She confessed, "I'm guilty of not finishing, as new ones excite me." Her advice: respect the products by completing them to see promised results.
