Lizzo Dresses as Ozempic for Halloween, Denies Using Medication for Weight Loss
Lizzo, dressed as a box of Ozempic for Halloween, responds to weight loss claims. Despite denial of using the diabetes medication, her costume playfully challenged the rumors.
On Saturday, Lizzo, whose real name is Melissa Viviane Jefferson, posted multiple images on Instagram showcasing her costume. It featured a rectangular white-and-red box adorned with her stage name in bold black letters.
Next to her image, the phrase, "Need self love? Try Lizzo! Lose guilt, gain confidence," accompanied the pop star, with a measuring tape tied around the waist. Additionally, she jested, "Side effects include: A smile on your face and a pep in your step."
In her post, she enthusiastically wrote, "Ok Halloween… you can start now 😜."
The four-time Grammy winner also posed next to a person dressed in a blow-up suit mimicking Eric Cartman from "South Park." This was a direct nod to the show's episode, "The End of Obesity," which targeted her earlier this year in May.
Lizzo humorously captioned the video, "LizzOzempic dump 😎."
Fans resonated with her costume, commending Lizzo for turning the situation into a witty comeback against weight loss allegations. One Instagram user quipped, "The way you absolutely ate this up no pun intended," while another praised her sense of humor, stating, "She took the joke and ran with it… She has a sense of humor 👏🏿😂❤️."
A third fan remarked, "This is how you clap back," and a fourth added, "Now that’s how you turn that s–t around !!!! I just love youuuuu."
Previously, Lizzo dismissed allegations about using Ozempic. On Instagram, she stated, "When you finally get Ozempic allegations after 5 months of weight training and calorie deficit," emphasizing her dedication to fitness.
She also humorously noted that the accusations felt like "a reward" after rigorous gym sessions. Over recent months, Lizzo has shared her weight loss journey, attributing it to healthier eating and consistent workouts.
In earlier updates, the "former vegan" acknowledged animal protein's role in her weight loss. Notably, stars who have publicly admitted to using Ozempic for weight loss include Fat Joe, Kathy Bates, Macy Gray, and Tori Spelling.
