Mamie Gummer Files for Divorce After 6 Years of Marriage

Reports indicate that Mamie Gummer, the eldest daughter of Meryl Streep, has filed for divorce. According to TMZ, Gummer officially submitted court documents on February 6, seeking to end her six-year marriage to screenwriter Mehar Sethi.

Gummer, 41, cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce and mentioned their separation date as May 6, 2023. The couple married in 2019 and shares two children, Peter, age 5, and Mary, age 3. Gummer is requesting joint legal and physical custody of their children along with spousal support.

Before marrying Sethi, Mamie Gummer was married to actor Benjamin Walker from 2011 until their divorce in 2013. She is the oldest of Meryl Streep and her estranged husband Don Gummer's three daughters. Streep and Gummer also have two other daughters, Grace Gummer, age 38, and Louisa Jacobson, age 33, in addition to their son Henry Wolfe, age 45.

In an update from October 2023, Streep confirmed her longstanding separation from Don Gummer. A representative shared that the couple had been apart for over six years but will continue to care for each other.

In another family development, Grace Gummer divorced musician Tay Strathairn in 2020 after a brief marriage. She later married record producer Mark Ronson in September 2021.

Meryl's youngest daughter, Louisa Jacobson, recently spoke about coming out and her journey of self-discovery. She mentioned previously "hiding" part of herself while involved in relationships with men. After taking time to be single, she recognized the importance of owning her truth. Jacobson announced her sexual orientation during Pride Month in June 2024 while sharing her first social media photos with her partner, Anna Blundell.

Jacobson emphasized the importance of storytelling, stating that visibility can inspire others to embrace their own truths. "Seeing people like us... will inspire others to do the same," she said, advocating for authenticity and acceptance.
