Mandy Moore Shares Heartwarming Photo of Newborn Amid L.A. Fires
Mandy Moore is reflecting on family amidst the wildfires that heavily impact Los Angeles. On January 10, she posted a touching photo of her newborn daughter after announcing severe damage to her Altadena home from the Eaton Fire.
"My sweet LouLou Bean. Hold tight to your loved ones, friends. Love you, LA," Moore, 40, wrote in her Instagram post, showing her daughter, Louise "Lou" Everett Goldsmith, nestled safely in a car seat, grasping her mother's finger.
Moore and her husband, Taylor Goldsmith, welcomed their baby girl in September 2024. The couple, married since 2018, also parents to two sons: three-year-old August "Gus" Harrison Goldsmith and Oscar "Ozzie" Bennett Goldsmith, age two.
This week, Moore expressed her shock over the devastating impact of the Eaton Fire on both her family and their community. "I’m in shock, feeling numb for all so many have lost, including my family," she stated on January 8. They lost their children's school and frequented restaurants, which have been destroyed.
In a carousel post, she shared videos of her exploring the neighborhood, assessing the damage around her. Fortunately, she noted that "the main part of our house is still standing," although it is no longer livable. Moore indicated that they lost their garage and back house, adding, "Everyone we know lost everything. Every house on our street is gone."
As of late Friday, the Eaton Fire has burned over 14,000 acres with only 3% containment, according to Cal Fire. Wildfires ignited on January 7 along the Pacific Coast Highway in Pacific Palisades, quickly spreading into several conflagrations across L.A.
Dry vegetation and severe winds contributed to the fire's rapid expansion, while city officials faced criticism for running out of water in local fire hydrants. This logistical failure prompted California Governor Gavin Newsom to call for an investigation. He noted the impairment of firefighting efforts due to the lost supply from hydrants, insisting, "We need answers to how that happened."
