Martha Stewart Reveals She Hasn't Talked to Her Ex-Husband in Over 20 Years

Martha Stewart shared insights about her ex-husband, Andrew "Andy" Stewart, during a recent interview. At the New York premiere of her Netflix documentary titled Martha, Stewart disclosed that she hasn't spoken to Andy for more than 20 years. When asked if Andy had seen the documentary, she replied, "The ex-husband? I have no idea. I haven't talked to him for over 20 years. Sadly." Martha and Andy, who were married from 1961 to 1990, are parents to daughter Alexis Stewart, born in 1965.

Stewart's revelation occurs after she mentioned in the Martha trailer her infidelity during their marriage. Addressing young women, she stated, "If you’re married and your husband starts to cheat on you, he’s a piece of s---. Get out of that marriage." When prompted by a producer regarding her own affair, she acknowledged, "Yeah, but I don’t think Andy ever knew about that."

In a prior conversation with PEOPLE in 2020, Stewart reflected on her divorce. She noted, "Getting divorced was a terrible thing for me since we were the first to divorce in my family." She added that their silence since the split was even more painful. Despite the heartache, she stated, "But I’m very strong, and I’m very motivated to get on with life."

The documentary chronicles Stewart's rise, highlighting her journey from a teenage model to a self-made billionaire. She expressed her hope that viewers will learn, "If you work hard, be creative, and use your creative intelligence, you can make something of your life." Martha Stewart emphasized the value of her teaching experiences over the years, claiming, "I think being a teacher the way I have been all these years has paid off handsomely."
