Mikey Madison Jokes About Brother’s Bets on Her Oscar Nomination

Mikey Madison's family is supporting her during this Oscar season.
She reveals her brother celebrated her nomination, especially after betting a considerable amount on her success. "My brother, he bet a lot of money on the nomination, so I think he was happy that I got nominated," she smiles. Madison earned her first nomination for Best Actress.
Her family — parents and four siblings — are also thrilled and proud of her achievement. Madison fondly remembers the moment she heard her name called. While in a New York hotel, far from her California roots, she connected with her family. "So I was just FaceTiming my mom and my dad, my brother, my dog," she mentions, humorously adding: "My cat was nowhere to be seen. She was gone. She didn't care about the nominations."

Following the announcement, she kept celebrations modest. "I don’t think I really digested it at all, but I did have pancakes. So that was my little celebration."
Joining her in Oscar recognition is Anora co-star Yura Borisov, who received his first nomination as Best Supporting Actor. The film gained attention with wins at the Directors Guild and Producers Guild award shows, earning six nominations overall, including Best Director and Best Picture.
Madison expressed a desire for the filming experience to continue. "I didn't want any of it to end," she reflects on portraying a bold New York City stripper who elopes with an irresponsible son of a Russian oligarch (Mark Eydelshteyn). "When we wrapped shooting, I wanted to keep going. I was so heartbroken that it was over because the connections that I made with people were so special to me."

Reflecting on her Oscar journey, she describes it as "surreal." "It's kind of hard to put into words because it's so meaningful to be nominated by your peers in an industry that I love very much and admire. So it's kind of a dream come true in lots of ways," she shares.
Madison intends to "stay present" on Oscar night, avoiding a serious mindset to truly appreciate the experience. "I think it's really important though. I am constantly reminding myself to stay present," she advises. "Often in my life, I'm kind of living a little bit into the future, or too far back in time. And so I’m really trying to remember, keeping certain memories to have forever."
"Maybe I should start journaling or something because I really want to remember all of this," she concludes.
