Miley Cyrus Drops 'Prelude,' First Song from Her New Album, "Something Beautiful"

Miley Cyrus has released the initial single from her upcoming visual album, "Something Beautiful." This album, set to launch on May 30, marks her first since her 2023 work, "Endless Summer Vacation." On Monday, March 31, fans received a surprise: the song "Prelude."
This introductory track features eerie and otherworldly sounds, with Cyrus's voice overlaying a mysterious backdrop. She reflects on themes of isolation and longing for connection:
"Like walking alone through a lucid dream Like saying your name aloud in an empty room Like witnessing my body standing in a mirror Aching to be seen, aching to become real. But the beauty one finds alone Is a prayer that longs to be shared."

In the music video, Cyrus dons archival 1997 Thierry Mugler couture, an outfit also shown on the album's cover art. The visual piece, directed by Cyrus, Jacob Bixenman, and Brendan Walter, showcases stunning cinematography managed by Benoît Debie.
"Something Beautiful" will comprise 13 original tracks, with Cyrus executive producing the album alongside Shawn Everett. Described as "bold," it emphasizes "visual storytelling."
This release follows the widespread acclaim received for "Endless Summer Vacation." At the Grammy Awards, Cyrus celebrated her first win in February 2024 for the best pop solo performance with "Flowers." She secured a second Grammy in 2025, winning best country duo/group performance alongside Beyoncé.

Recently, Cyrus discussed a notable performance at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards. During a conversation with her sister Brandi Cyrus for Spotify’s Billions Club series, they reminisced about Miley's performance of "Party in the U.S.A." that featured her dancing with a pole attached to an ice cream cart.
"This is going to be no surprise to you. Do you know whose idea that was?" Miley asked Brandi. Upon guessing their mother Tish was behind it, Miley confirmed, "Yup, that was my mom’s idea. So she always lets me take the blame." She added, "When I got in trouble the next day, you know who was nowhere to be found? Tish Cyrus."
