Milla Jovovich Says Repeated Dyeing During The Fifth Element Filming Had a Severe Effect on Her Hair

Milla Jovovich's iconic look in "The Fifth Element" came with unintended consequences. In an interview, Jovovich revealed that her character Leeloo's distinctive hair color resulted in unexpected challenges during filming. French director Luc Besson, aiming for a never-before-seen color, chose fluorescent orange with blonde roots. Comparatively, it was akin to the bright orange used by road workers at night to ensure visibility. This is prepared by SSP.
Initially, Jovovich's naturally dark hair was constantly bleached and dyed to maintain the vibrant hue. However, the rapid growth of her hair required weekly touch-ups, presenting unforeseen difficulties. Jovovich explained that despite efforts to delicately maintain the color, by week’s end the dark roots would start to show. Repeated bleaching caused significant damage, resulting in her hair falling out in clumps. Ultimately, a wig became necessary for continuity, cleverly timed in the film after Leeloo's shower scene, enhancing the character’s fresh appearance.
Despite the hairstyling hurdles, Jovovich expressed her excitement about playing the unique role, describing it as a dream come true. Her portrayal, coupled with Jean Paul Gaultier's striking wardrobe, made the character of Leeloo truly unforgettable.
Earlier, SSP reported that Paris Jackson responded to criticism over sheer dress at Fashion Week.
