Mina Starsiak Hawk Shares a Cryptic Photo from a Church
Mina Starsiak Hawk stirred curiosity among her fans by posting a photo of herself in a church. On November 7, the HGTV star shared an image showing her profile with rows of empty pews in the background. A colorful sign reading "St. Mark’s" appeared behind her.
The church appears to be St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in downtown Indianapolis. The church’s website describes it as "a historic landmark with a welcoming, lively congregation."
Mina described her feelings in her Instagram caption, stating, "Exciting things. About to crap my pants scary, but exciting. But it wouldn’t be my style if I wasn’t lingering somewhere between amazing and insanity." She then prompted her followers with the question, "So, best guesses as to what I’m up to?!"
Responses varied widely among her followers. One user commented, "Yay! A church renovation!!" followed by a clapping hands emoji. Another suggested that she was "turning the church into a pub and restaurant?" Others speculated about a new wedding venue or humorously asked if she was "becoming a nun" or involved in a revival performance of Sister Act.
Mina Starsiak Hawk gained fame through her show Good Bones, where she renovated homes in Indianapolis for eight seasons. In 2007, she started the home renovation business Two Chicks and a Hammer with her mother, Karen E. Laine. Although Laine stepped back from the company in 2019, she remained a presence on the show until it concluded in October 2023.
In her podcast, Mina AF, she previously mentioned family tensions during the final season of Good Bones. She acknowledged not being "in a great place" with her mother or brother, Tad.
In August, a three-episode spinoff focused on "new beginnings" displayed the mother-daughter team's evolving projects. Mina transformed a lake house in Indiana into a retreat for her own family, while Laine worked on a renovation in Wilmington, N.C. Although Laine had plans to retire there, she listed the property for sale in early October.
Reflecting on her HGTV journey, Mina recently shared insights through Instagram Stories. In response to a fan question about missing Good Bones, she expressed, "I grew up making Good Bones." She continued, stating that she started in her 20s and was turning 40 this year. Mina remarked how her time on the show encompassed much of her adult life.
Additionally, she shared, "I miss the real work. The fun. The pranks. The amazing relationships. The experiences I got to have that I never would have had if not for the show. 100% I miss it."
