Mindy Kaling Responds to TikTok Reactions about Her Appearance on Meghan Markle's Show

Mindy Kaling addressed her appearance on Meghan Markle's Netflix series during an interview on "The View." In this episode, Kaling discussed her cameo's media coverage, PEOPLE reported. "I’ve noticed that whenever I do something related to Meghan, it becomes big news," she stated.
In response to Whoopi Goldberg, who repeated "big news," Kaling added, "We were making sandwiches. They push in on my face on TikTok, and people say, ‘Look at this emotion.’ I honestly didn’t even remember it; we shot it nine months ago." She expressed her enjoyment working with Meghan and remarked on viewers' reactions, stating it was fascinating to observe the following.
Kaling joined the Duchess of Sussex on "With Love, Meghan," where they bonded over motherhood while preparing a party. During the segment, they reflected on their childhood experiences as "latchkey kids." Meghan shared her upbringing, highlighting "fast food and TV tray dinners, microwavable kids’ meals," along with memories of watching "Jeopardy."
Kaling humorously remarked, "People wouldn’t believe that Meghan Markle ate at Jack in the Box." Meghan, in turn, acknowledged, "It’s funny you say Meghan Markle; I’m Sussex now." She conveyed the importance of family names, sharing, "I didn’t realize how meaningful that would be. This is our little family name."

Meghan discussed the Sussex name's importance in a recent interview with PEOPLE. She expressed pride that this name unites her family: herself, Archie, and Lili. "It means a lot to me," she reflected. Meghan indicated that sharing this name plays a significant role in their family narrative as her children grow and learn about their family's history.
Kaling and Meghan have maintained their friendship since Kaling appeared on Meghan's podcast, "Archetypes," in 2022. Kaling mentioned that after the birth of her third child, Meghan contacted her to appear on her show. "I was on maternity leave, and Meghan asked if I wanted to come to Montecito and let her cook for me," Kaling shared.

Kaling expressed gratitude for this opportunity and noted receiving treats at the visit: "I left with fresh produce, homemade jam, and hot sauce because she knew I loved the hot sauce. She’s a generous woman who understood I needed a break."
