New Romeo & Juliet Starring Kit Connor and Rachel Zegler Makes Broadway Debut
A fresh production of Romeo & Juliet has debuted on Broadway, showcasing the talents of Heartstopper's Kit Connor and West Side Story's Rachel Zegler as the famed star-crossed lovers. Officially opening at New York City's Circle in the Square Theatre on October 24, this latest Shakespeare adaptation is directed by Tony winner Sam Gold with music by Jack Antonoff. The modern rendition targets a high-energy, TikTok-savvy audience, with the play's plot focused on youth navigating the tumultuous world of their parents. Connor has been noted for his standout performance, capturing Romeo’s innocence and romantic fervor so intensely it’s heart-rending. The cast also features Tommy Dorfman, Gabby Beans, Nihar Duvvuri, Jasai Chase-Owens, Daniel Bravo Hernández, Solá Fádìran, Taheen Modak, and Gían Pérez.
With limited floor seats placing audiences near the nightly action, the play promises an immersive experience running until February 16, 2025. Opening night guests and stars celebrated the beginning of this exhilarating journey through an iconic tale updated for a new generation.
