Nicki Minaj Facing Assault Lawsuit, Denies 'False and Frivolous' Claims
Nicki Minaj faces a lawsuit from a former employee, Brandon Garrett, who accused her of assault and battery. Garrett claims to have worked as Minaj's manager during her 2024 tour and filed a complaint against her, as per court documents obtained by TMZ.
According to the filing, after a concert in April 2024 in Detroit, Minaj summoned Garrett to her dressing room. He allegedly displeased her by asking someone else to retrieve a prescription for her. In the court documents, it was also stated that another employee, Luke Montgomery, explained his job included setting up various tour-related tasks and fulfilling Minaj’s personal requests.
Garrett explained to Minaj that he was busy with another task and needed assistance to run the errand. Upon hearing this, Minaj reportedly became "visibly upset" and "angrily screamed" at him. She allegedly exclaimed statements indicating aggression, such as, "Are you f—ing crazy having him pick up my prescription?" and mentioned her husband, saying he would "knock out your f—ing teeth."
The incident escalated, and Garrett claimed that Minaj then "open-handly struck" him on the right side of his face and later on his wrist. A few hours post-incident, Garrett stated that another member of Minaj’s team informed him he would not be continuing with her for a scheduled tour stop in Chicago.
Through her attorney, Minaj denied Garrett’s allegations, asserting that the claims were entirely false and frivolous. Judd Burstein, Minaj's lawyer, highlighted that no official complaint has been served to Minaj at the moment. He expressed confidence that the claims made by Garrett would be resolved in Minaj's favor.
Minaj, a prominent figure in the music industry, gained fame with her 2010 album "Pink Friday." Her career has seen various highs and lows, notably a 2024 arrest in Amsterdam for possessing marijuana pre-rolls found in her luggage. She claimed the arrest was a tactic to sabotage her tour.
On her Instagram in May 2024, she expressed frustration about ongoing attempts to hinder her tour despite these incidents appearing illegal. Royal Netherlands Marechaussee later stated she was fined and allowed to continue her travels after her arrest.
Earlier, SSP wrote that Vanessa Williams remembered her mother Helen following her passing.
