Nicolas Cage's Ex-Wife Sues Him and Their Son for Assault, Alleging Actor Enabled Incident

Christina Fulton has filed a lawsuit against her ex-husband, Nicolas Cage, and their son, Weston Coppola Cage, PEOPLE reported. This legal action follows an incident last year when Fulton was allegedly attacked by Weston. The lawsuit, submitted to the Superior Court of California in Los Angeles County, includes claims that Cage neglected Weston's mental health issues that preceded the assault.
On April 28, 2024, Fulton, 57, reportedly had a verbal dispute with Weston, 33, which escalated to physical violence. At the time, she characterized Weston’s behavior as a "mental-health crisis." Following this, Weston faced charges in July 2024 for assault with a deadly weapon and was subsequently released on bond. Fulton expressed her belief that Weston needed urgent mental health support.

Fulton highlights in her lawsuit that Cage, 61, disregarded their son’s history of mental and psychological issues coupled with violent behavior. She stated, "Nicolas has been aware of Weston's history yet failed to intervene." Fulton alleges that Cage enabled Weston's lifestyle by bailing him out of jail multiple times, participating in substance-related activities with him, and paying for his condo.
Furthermore, she claims Cage did not ensure Weston received necessary psychiatric assistance. Fulton noted Cage avoided setting boundaries to curb their son's alleged harmful conduct. The filing asserts that Cage knew about Weston's risk to others, saying he "posed a serious and imminent danger based on documented incidents of violence."

Fulton describes the alleged assault as brutal, recalling injuries like a concussion, multiple bruises, and trauma that required substantial medical intervention. She claims this attack severely impacted both her career and personal life, as she was on a film set when the incidents transpired, limiting her ability to promote her work.
In her lawsuit, Fulton argues that the attack jeopardized her Cyclish brand, hindering her business undertakings due to fear instilled by the ordeal. She has pursued charges against Cage for negligent supervision and denies any responsibility from Weston, asking for damages related to her medical care and emotional suffering.

The amount Fulton seeks for damages is not specified, yet she has requested to cover the lawsuits' costs.
