Olivia Munn Mourns Death of Her Agent Tony Etz at 64

Actress Olivia Munn expressed her sorrow over the passing of her literary agent, Tony Etz. He passed away on March 10 due to a rare bone cancer known as Chordoma. He was 64 years old.
Munn shared a screenshot of the news on her Instagram story on March 11. She wrote, "This makes me incredibly sad. This is my literary agent who passed away from cancer yesterday; but that's not how he deserves to be remembered."

The Newsroom alum emphasized that Tony should be recognized as "one of the good guys in our business." She noted, "They didn’t get better or kinder than Tony." Munn added, "Rest in love, my friend. My thoughts are with his sweet family," followed by "We all love you, Tony. F*CK CANCER."

Tony had a meaningful career spanning three decades at the Creative Artists Agency (CAA). He contributed to the success of iconic shows like Grey’s Anatomy while representing numerous writers, directors, actors, and producers.
Two years ago, Tony expressed a desire to author his own obituary. He reflected on his achievements, stating, "Over 30 years as a packaging agent, I was foundational in the sale of Jackass, House, Lost, Rescue Me, Big Little Lies, Jury Duty, and Tracker, along with dozens of other shows." He also stated, "I have been a proud citizen of the best city state in the business."

Many of Tony’s long-time clients remember him as exceptional in his field. Peter Tolan, co-creator of Rescue Me and The Job, shared, "As a friend, Tony is deeply mourned. As an agent, he is irreplaceable; he defended those fortunate enough to be his clients with a ferocity most mothers would struggle to match."
While Munn grieves his passing, she empathizes with the battle against cancer, having faced her own diagnosis recently. The actress stated she is feeling better nearly two years post-diagnosis. "I’m doing good now," she told TIME’s Women of the Year Gala on February 25. "I’m feeling really good and feeling really grateful."
Munn also acknowledged the support from her husband, comedian John Mulaney, during her challenges. "It was a struggle going through each day, but he was there making the hard times easier," she explained. "He made the really emotional moments less sad and helped me feel protected and safe."
