Palisades Fire: Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag's Los Angeles House Burns Down
On January 7, the Palisades fire in Los Angeles devastated Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag's home. They successfully evacuated from their Pacific Palisades neighborhood amid dangerously strong winds, reaching up to 80 mph.
Spencer and Heidi watched helplessly as their house burned. In a Snapchat video, Spencer said, "I'm watching our house burn down on the security cameras." He shared footage showing their deck and children's room engulfed in flames.
His sister Stephanie Pratt confirmed their tragedy through social media. "I am beyond heartbroken for my brother, Heidi, and the kids," she wrote on her Instagram Story. She expressed concern for their community, noting, "so many friends have lost their homes today."
Stephanie mentioned her father's attempts to save their home were thwarted by the forceful winds. "He tried to save my brother's house, but the wind is so strong; there was nothing he could do." Luckily, their parents evacuated safely. They monitored the fire via security cameras from a safe location.
By that day, over 30,000 southern California residents had been required to evacuate. City and state officials issued these mandates due to the fire, which had intensified by what they termed "life-threatening winds." Desert areas, including Topanga, Malibu, and Pacific Palisades, faced heightened threats as the wildfire expanded.
Stephanie reiterated the closeness of their community, stating, "We are such a tight community." She conveyed her grief for friends facing displacement.
As flames soared, Spencer, who has two sons, Gunner, 7, and Ryker, 2, with Heidi, shared a video showing smoke billowing from the Santa Monica Mountains. An airplane worked tirelessly, dumping water to contain the wildfire.
In distress, Spencer stood outside their home capturing images of the distant brush fire. Many residents faced challenges evacuating due to heavy traffic, including Schitt’s Creek star Eugene Levy. Levy described the smoke's intensity: "The smoke looked pretty black and intense over Temescal Canyon." He noted an absence of visible flames.
Local resident Ellen Delosh-Bacher recounted abandoning her car after police urged drivers to escape, saying, "Cops began running down the road, telling anyone stuck in traffic, ‘Run for your lives.’"
Although numerous properties, including the Palisades Theatre, suffered damage, the Getty Museum reported no major loss.
"At the Getty Villa, some trees and vegetation on site have burned," the museum announced on X (formerly Twitter), "but no structures are on fire, and staff and the collection remain safe."
