Pamela Anderson Reacts to Oscars Snub for "The Last Showgirl"
Pamela Anderson has responded following her absence from the Oscar nominations list. The actress, aged 57, received praise for her role in "The Last Showgirl." However, she did not secure a nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role when the 97th Academy Awards nominations were revealed on January 23.
Despite the snub, Anderson expressed that the situation did not come as a shock to her. She stated, "Oh my gosh, it’s not something I ever expected. Doing the work is the win." She shared these thoughts with Elle.com after the nominations were announced. Anderson appreciated the recognition but emphasized that it’s important to focus on the work rather than the awards.
Anderson still earned nominations for "The Last Showgirl" at the Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild Awards. "I couldn’t imagine [it] anyway," she mentioned. "I’m happy for the SAG nomination; that’s [voted on by] your peers. That’s really cool."
The Best Actress in a Leading Role nominees include Cynthia Erivo ("Wicked"), Karla Sofía Gascón ("Emilia Pérez"), Anora star Mikey Madson, Demi Moore ("The Substance"), and Fernanda Torres ("I’m Still Here"). Anderson received remarkable reviews for her performance as Shelly, an aging Las Vegas showgirl, in the film directed by Gia Coppola.
In October 2024, during the Glamour Women of the Year Awards, Anderson revealed to Us Weekly that she views this movie as the true start of her acting career. "This is the beginning of my career," she stated. Anderson expressed a desire to have pursued movie roles earlier, saying, "But it was worth the wait."
Earlier in October, Anderson reflected on her career's progress after receiving the Golden Eye Award at the Zurich Film Festival. She said, "I never thought I would be on stage, receiving an award like that. I just want to keep working. I am excited to do more."
Anderson's film exploration began with "Snapdragon" in 1993. She has appeared in several movies since, including the 2017 "Baywatch" reboot, where she played C.J. Parker from 1992 to 1997.
