Prince Harry Addresses Divorce Rumors Regarding Meghan Markle
Prince Harry has spoken out about rumors surrounding his marriage to Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex. The couple has been married for six years and shares two children, Archie and Lilibet.
Recent speculation suggested that Harry and Meghan's separate appearances at public events indicated marital trouble. Harry firmly denied these claims during an appearance at the 2024 DealBook Summit in New York City on December 4.
He stated, "Apparently we've bought or moved house 10, 12 times. We've apparently divorced maybe 10, 12 times as well. So it's just like, what?" He expressed his frustration, saying, "It's hard to keep up with, but that's why you just sort of ignore it."
Despite being accustomed to media scrutiny, the Duke of Sussex shared his thoughts on individuals who perpetuate these negative rumors. He remarked, "The people I feel most sorry about are the trolls. Their hopes are just built and built. It’s like, ‘Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes,’ and then it doesn't happen. So I feel sorry for them. Genuinely, I do."
Harry also reflects on his challenges with British media when it comes to family safety. He worries about the impact of tabloid narratives on public perception. In a previous ITV interview, he voiced concerns about visiting the UK with Meghan.
"It's still dangerous," Harry explained. "All it takes is one lone actor, one person who reads this stuff to act on what they have read." He added, "Whether it's a knife or acid, whatever it is, these are things that are of genuine concern for me. It's one of the reasons why I won’t bring my wife back to this country."
