Priscilla Presley Remembers Lisa Marie on 2nd Anniversary of Her Passing
Priscilla Presley is honoring her daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, on the anniversary of her passing. On January 12, 2025, she shared heartfelt sentiments via Instagram.
"I miss you more than words can say. I wish I could hold you, talk to you, see your smile just one more time," stated 79-year-old Priscilla, alongside a photo of Lisa Marie. "I wish you could see how much you are still loved. You are deeply missed by all of us who hold you in our hearts. -Mom"
Lisa Marie passed away from a heart attack in January 2023, at 53 years old. She is at rest alongside her son, Benjamin, who tragically died in 2020 at Elvis Presley’s Graceland estate in Memphis, Tennessee. Elvis is also buried there.
Riley Keough, Lisa Marie’s daughter and actress, also took time to honor her mother. On the same day, she shared a photo of a young Lisa Marie with her teenage daughters, Finley and Harper, who are 16. Riley wrote, "2 years ❤️ I love you always," and added, "I can’t believe it’s been 2 years. I miss and love you so much, mama."
Last year, Riley completed and published the memoir Lisa Marie had begun writing before her death. Titled From Here to the Great Unknown, it was published in October 2024.
In her memoir, Keough details her mother's life over the past decade. "In the years before she died, my mother began writing her memoir," Keough explained. "Despite various approaches and interviews, she struggled to write about herself."
Keough pointed out that her mother often felt insecure about her value beyond being Elvis’s daughter. She was plagued with self-criticism, making the writing process incredibly tough. "I don’t think she understood how or why her story should be told," Keough noted. However, Lisa Marie still held a "burning desire" to share her narrative.
Keough recounted a pivotal moment when her mother expressed frustration in her writing journey. "She said to me, ‘Pookie, I don’t know how to write my book anymore. Can you write it with me?’" Keough remembered responding, "Of course I can."
Continuing, she expressed that the last decade was extremely challenging for Lisa Marie. "She could only reflect on everything through a painful perspective. She believed I might have a broader view of her life," said Keough. She agreed to assist in writing the memoir, but just a month later, Lisa Marie passed away.
