Rachael Kirkconnell Reveals Reasons Behind Breakup with Matt James

Rachael Kirkconnell, a Bachelor alum, has shared the reasons for her breakup with Matt James. This revelation came nearly two weeks after their split during her January 28 appearance on Call Her Daddy.

During the episode, Rachael explained what triggered their breakup, which occurred while they were visiting Tokyo. "He mentioned that, at the end of the day, there were aspects of my personality that worried him about having me as a wife," she stated. She continued, "He felt we had compatibility issues."

Rachael noticed she often took responsibility for any conflicts in her relationship. Reflecting on their discussion, she recalled Matt admitting, "‘By this point in our relationship, I should want to propose to you. But I don't feel ready or see myself proposing.’"

When Rachael responded, she emphasized the significance of their four-year relationship. "After four years, you should know if you feel ready for commitment," she asserted. "If you don’t feel that way, maybe we aren’t right for each other."

Prior to their breakup, Rachael mentioned positive moments they shared. "A few days earlier, he expressed how fortunate he felt to have me in his life," she revealed. She noted, "He appreciated my qualities and found comfort in our relationship compared to others."

However, they experienced conflict the day before their split when Rachael chose a dinner spot he found disappointing. She dismissed her feelings until she shed a couple of tears. This response caused Matt to question her emotional reaction, despite the fact that Rachael felt everything had been okay.

Despite these moments, the relationship ultimately dissolved. "I asked him, ‘Do you want to make this work?’" she recounted. Rachael wondered whether issues stemmed from her or if he was scared. Ultimately, he concluded their relationship was not the right fit.

"He said it would be unfair for me to waste more of my time if he didn’t believe it would work out," Rachael shared. His kind words about her, describing her as "beautiful, smart, and funny," added confusion after hearing differing sentiments just days prior.

Rachael also noted the heartbreaking timing of their split announcement. Matt posted about their breakup on Instagram just hours after she left Japan, highlighting the abrupt end to their relationship.
