Ralph Fiennes Approves of Cillian Murphy as Voldemort
Ralph Fiennes has expressed his support for Cillian Murphy potentially succeeding him as Voldemort in HBO's forthcoming "Harry Potter" TV series. Fiennes described Murphy, an Oscar-winning actor known for his role in "Oppenheimer," as fantastic and welcomed the idea of him taking on the character of the infamous villain, Voldemort. This endorsement came during an interview on "Watch What Happens Live," centering on the circulating rumors about Murphy's involvement in the series based on J.K. Rowling’s books. This is prepared by SSP.
Fiennes, 61, first brought Voldemort to life in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" (2005) and continued the role in subsequent films such as "Order of the Phoenix" and both parts of "Deathly Hallows." Though Fiennes expressed willingness to reprise his black-robed character, HBO's plans, first reported in April 2023, remain without official casting announcements. However, speculations point towards Mark Rylance possibly playing Dumbledore.
Involvement with J.K. Rowling persists as she contributes as an executive producer despite her controversial statements, particularly on biological sex and transgender issues. Fiennes has publicly defended her, emphasizing that her novels advocate for personal empowerment. He acknowledged opposing perspectives but argued against unfair harsh criticism directed toward her.
While official casting has yet to be confirmed, Fiennes’ support for Murphy highlights the ongoing anticipation surrounding the series’ reboot. Alongside his concerns for content accuracy, the prospect of Murphy stepping into this pivotal dark role hints at a promising adaptation fueled by a new yet respected cast.
Earlier, SSP reported that Rihanna and A$AP Rocky shined at British Fashion Awards.
