Ringo Starr Shares His Secret to 43-Year Marriage with Barbara Bach

The renowned drummer, Ringo Starr, who will embark on a summer tour with his All Starr Band, shares insights on his long-lasting marriage. He married actress Barbara Bach in 1981, and as they approach 44 years together, their formula for success remains refreshingly straightforward, PEOPLE reported.
Starr, 84, challenges the notion of marital rules. When asked about the key to their marriage, he replies, "No." He embraces the ups and downs they experience. "There’s up-and-down days, and sometimes I’m really stupid, and then we get over it," he explained during an interview.

Bach, 77, and Starr married in London. Their blended family includes five children: Starr’s sons Zak, 59, and Jason, 57, and daughter Lee, 54, from his first marriage. Bach has daughter Francesca, 56, and son Gianni, 52, with ex-husband Augusto Gregorini. Despite challenges, they have maintained a loving partnership.
Recently, Barbara Bach inspired Starr's personal song "Thankful" for his latest country album "Look Up." The lyrics convey deep appreciation and highlight their strong bond. "My world came crashing down and shattered/Then you came along/My shelter from the storm," he expresses in the track.
Starr's first country album since 1970 debuted in January and made significant waves. It reached the Top 10 on Billboard’s album sales chart and claimed the No. 1 spot in the United Kingdom. A memorable two-night concert series at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, titled "Ringo & Friends at the Ryman," has been made available for streaming on Paramount+.
Reflecting on the album’s unique journey, Starr remarked, "It sort of took its own way. We can make the right turns sometimes." He expresses joy in its success and remains grateful for recent surprises in his career.
This June, Starr is set to tour with his All Starr Band, where he has played since 1989, visiting various cities. Furthermore, a Las Vegas residency at The Venetian Theatre will showcase six shows in September.

Life with Barbara Bach appears blissful. Starr recalls their first meeting at Los Angeles International Airport in 1980. Later, they connected while filming the 1981 movie "Caveman." He muses, "I think I love Barbara as much [today] as I did at LAX — and I’m beyond blessed that she loves me and we’re still together."
Bach, in past interviews, underlined her affectionate view of their marriage. "I love the man, and that’s it," she declared, encapsulating their bond. Together, they continuously navigate life, grounded in love and mutual respect.
