Rod Stewart Is Parting with His Italian Sports Cars for a Surprising Reason
Rod Stewart, the British rock legend, announced he will sell some of his cherished Italian sports cars, including Ferraris and Lamborghinis. On November 14, the 79-year-old musician revealed his decision in an Instagram post, citing potholes in his area as the primary reason for his choice.
In his post, Stewart expressed gratitude for owning five stunning hybrid sports cars, calling them "works of art." His caption featured a photo where he posed proudly in front of these vibrant vehicles on a tree-lined street. "Unfortunately, due to the potholes on our roads, I may need to find new owners for them," he stated. The singer shared his affection for the cars, admitting, "I’ve been driving these iconic Italian cars since the seventies, and I absolutely love them."
He concluded his message by thanking his fans, saying they inspire his love for these cars. He humorously dismissed potential critics, stating, "And to all the trolls… don’t bother; I never read the comments."
Over the years, Stewart has frequently shared his passion for these remarkable cars with followers, highlighting his collection’s beauty. However, he has also openly discussed his frustration regarding the poor condition of many British roads.
In 2022, Stewart even took initiative by repairing potholes himself. He shared videos on Instagram that showed him filling potholes near his home in Essex. Wearing a construction vest alongside his Adidas tracksuit, he humorously interacted with crew members while fixing the streets. "I’m repairing the street where I live because no one can be bothered to do it," he declared in one clip.
Stewart explained further in another video, pointing out recent road conditions that had implications for emergency vehicles. "The other day, there was an ambulance with a burst tire. My Ferrari can’t get through here at all," he noted. This led him and a few friends to repair the streets independently.
In August, he addressed rumors about marital troubles with his wife, Penny Lancaster. Stewart clearly stated there is no rift in their marriage and refuted erroneous claims. He reassured fans on Instagram, explaining they moved back to Britain permanently a year prior but still cherish their home in Los Angeles.
His marriage to Penny has lasted since June 2007, and he emphasized their strong bond after 27 wonderful years together. Stewart referred to himself as "a very lucky man," expressing deep love and commitment to Penny in a heartfelt statement.
