Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes Welcome a New Family Dog
Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes have welcomed a new furry friend into their family. They adopted a dog together!
Mendes, 50, shared a video on Instagram on November 25 to introduce their new gray doodle. "Meet the newest member of our family… Magic!!! We adopted her from this amazing organization @californiadoodlerescues," she wrote. In the clip, Mendes reveals aspect of her life with Magic while walking her new pet.
Mendes expressed her love for Magic, adding, "More to come…I’m crazy about her and excited to share life with Magic with you." The couple, parents to daughters Esmeralda, 10, and Amada, 8, have been together since 2011.
A fan account commented, noting Magic's resemblance to Gosling's former dog, George. Mendes happily acknowledged this comparison. "Totally! She’s got some Georgie vibes for sure! We’re in love," she said in response.
In the past, Gosling often spoke fondly of George, a terrier. He mentioned George’s death at age 17 during an October 2017 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. According to Vanity Fair, Gosling shared, "There was something about George where ... I think he felt like being a dog was beneath him."
He recalled convincing George to sit by explaining the benefits. Gosling stated, "Like, ‘Look, we’re gonna be in this car for about three hours, so if you want to sit down you might be more comfortable this way.’" He humorously noted George's final years, stating, "George, as he started to age, started to look like an aging rock star."
Gosling even took George on stage during his Late Night With Jimmy Fallon interview in July 2011. He remarked, "He’s more interesting than I am, so I just thought it would be helpful."
Mendes discussed her daughters' indifference toward her acting achievements. She recalled trying to impress them with a scene from "Hitch" a year ago. "They don’t care," she remarked, noting her effort to show them a crucial part of her career.
Despite her enthusiasm, Mendes continued, "They were not impressed at all." She shared how her girls reacted to her facing fears during filming. "They were just like, ‘OK, cool, Mama, can we go outside?’"
