Ryan O'Neal’s Malibu Home Destroyed in L.A. Fires, Says Daughter Tatum O’Neal
On January 12, Tatum O’Neal revealed a tragic update about her father Ryan O’Neal's Malibu home. The longtime beachfront property was completely destroyed during the ongoing L.A. fires. Tatum described the situation in a message on Threads, expressing her sorrow, "It’s the saddest ever so sad I could cry. My father’s house is gone Malibu gone."
Photos of the area confirm the devastation, showing that Ryan’s former beachfront home has been reduced to rubble, PEOPLE reported.
Tatum shared her feelings further, stating, "Gone gone gone gone. It’s so scary. I am so freaking sad." This post responded to a news clip shared on Threads regarding the scene. This disaster comes just two years after Ryan’s passing in December 2023 from congestive heart failure at age 82. Ryan was buried alongside his long-time partner, Farrah Fawcett, at Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park & Mortuary in Los Angeles.
Ryan and Farrah had an on-and-off relationship that began in 1979, lasted until her death at age 62 in 2009.
The destruction of Ryan’s home reflects the broader crisis in Los Angeles, where over 80,000 people have been displaced due to wildfires. Celebrities like Ricki Lake, Mel Gibson, and Heidi Montag have also lost their homes in the devastation. Recent reports from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner indicate that the fire's death toll has tragically escalated to 24 people.
In response to the humanitarian crisis, Beyoncé made a generous donation of $2.5 million to fire relief funds, stating, "Los Angeles, we stand with you."
Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna confirmed at a news conference that at least 16 people are still reported missing. In an effort to control the fires, over 70 firefighters from Mexico and Canada have arrived in California. They are currently undergoing training to safely assist in the firefighting efforts.
"First, they’ve done their classroom portion on the safety aspects of wildland firefighting," said Cal Fire public information officer Curtis Rhodes. "Now they’re practicing shelter appointments to understand how to enhance their safety."
