Sabrina Carpenter Admits She Wasn't Sure People Would Take Espresso Well
Sabrina Carpenter reflected on her uncertainty about the potential success of her hit song "Espresso," expressing surprise over the deep connection it eventually formed with audiences. Initially, Carpenter was unsure whether listeners would resonate with the song, which quickly amassed over 1.6 billion streams to become Spotify’s most-streamed track in 2024. This is prepared by SSP.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Carpenter explained that she faced doubts upon its release in April since she believed espresso coffee felt more suited to fall rather than summer. Despite her concerns, she was confident in the song's sentiment and sound, appreciating the confidence it exuded. She emphasized that her personal appreciation of the song was what mattered most at that time, a mantra she continues to embrace.
"Espresso," appearing on her highly praised album Short n' Sweet, earned Carpenter six Grammy nominations in 2025, including record of the year and best pop solo performance. Carpenter also mentioned how the song's addictive quality was an unplanned but welcome surprise, contributing to its unexpected success. Her approach to writing "Espresso" was partly a manifestation tactic during a time when she felt lacking in romantic attention.
Carpenter wrapped her Short n' Sweet tour in November across North America and plans a European tour starting in March. Recently, she launched a Netflix holiday special, A Nonsense Christmas, featuring various musical performances and celebrity cameos.
Earlier, SSP reported that Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet's relationship reportedly drama-free.
