Samsung to Introduce Rollable Smartphone With Flexible Display in 2025
Samsung may be gearing up to unveil a groundbreaking smartphone featuring a rollable display, following recent consumer interest in innovative designs. After Huawei launched the world’s first tri-fold smartphone, Samsung is directing its development efforts toward a phone with an extensive and adaptable display.
According to reports, this new Samsung smartphone could launch as early as 2025. The device is expected to feature a rollable screen that expands into a 12.4-inch display, nearing the size of some Android tablets. This expansion capability positions it as a superior option compared to the newly revealed Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design, which offers a 10.2-inch screen.
Enhancements to the device include an under-display camera (UDC), allowing for an uninterrupted display without a visible camera cutout. This will likely lead to a more immersive viewing experience. Combined with a spacious screen display, this technology could render the rollable smartphone from Samsung quite premium in pricing.
Samsung has not shied away from experimenting with novel foldable devices over recent years. Their prototypes have showcased unique designs: one type folds inward twice while another mimics the shape of the letter Z. Moreover, patents have been granted for various innovations, including rollable and triple-folding display technologies.
In the competitive landscape, Huawei has recently gained attention by introducing the Mate XT Ultimate Design, the first smartphone of its kind that folds three times. As Samsung has pivoted toward developing rollable models, the next steps regarding their phone are anticipated by late 2025, with more details expected soon.
