Sarah Kim Goes Viral Over Relationship and Financial Struggles

Sarah Kim and her husband made headlines by discussing their financial struggles on the podcast, *Marriage is HARD*. The revelation sparked a viral conversation about their economic challenges.
Sarah Kim, a prominent social media influencer with over 2.8 million TikTok followers, shares content about her daily life, cooking, and "get ready with me" videos. Recently, however, she gained attention for revealing that she is the primary provider in her household.
In a recent episode of her podcast At Home with Homegirl, Kim openly discussed their financial situation. Her husband, Andrew Min, shared that for several years, he was unemployed, necessitating Kim's support. They believe in the philosophy that when they married, their finances also merged.
"Anything I bring in is all yours, and everything you bring in is all mine," Kim stated. She emphasized that this approach works for them, while Min acknowledged that there are "definitely not right or wrong" ways to manage finances in a marriage.
Min mentioned that just before their wedding, Kim quit her job. She was unemployed for about six to eight months during their marriage. "For me, I was like, ‘That’s fine,’" he clarified. He viewed their struggles as a shared challenge, asserting, "Hey, if it’s gonna be hard, it’ll be hard together."
Reflecting on his employment struggles, Min explained that two years ago, he faced difficulties at work, leading him to take a break. He noted that his search for a suitable opportunity took longer than anticipated. "I wasn’t bringing in money for basically two full years," he admitted, aside from some part-time jobs. During this time, Kim supported them financially but never made him feel like a burden.
Nonetheless, Kim highlighted that their situation "definitely wasn’t pretty." She had to confront her needs during that challenging period. "Did I think about what if I married rich during those hard times? Probably, yeah," she confessed.
As the couple anticipates their first child, Kim began overseeing their finances and eventually sought the guidance of a financial advisor. Min initially declined to join their financial meeting, commenting, "I’m not making any money," which made him feel out of place.
Min pointed out their different definitions of financial security. His family had financial struggles, so he chose a career that wasn’t very lucrative. "I was used to just barely making it," he explained. In contrast, Kim's family was relatively stable and able to provide for her education. She learned the importance of saving early, taking on part-time jobs in high school.

"Say my bar is up here, Andrew's bar is down here," Kim said, indicating differing financial mindsets. This gap in their views about financial security caused tension in their marriage.
As the podcast clip gained popularity, followers revisited her previous videos, leaving comments about their situation. Some TikTok users produced explainer videos analyzing various relationship aspects. While several expressed anger, others highlighted the need for empathy, especially during Kim’s pregnancy.
"You guys need to remember she’s pregnant," one commenter noted, urging for kindness and understanding. Another echoed the sentiment, stressing the emotional toll of judgments directed towards Kim and her husband.
Kim declined to provide further comments to PEOPLE. She and Min have been together for over six and a half years, tying the knot in June 2021. They recently announced they are expecting a baby in January 2025.
