Scott Foley and Marika Domińczyk Are Still Fans Of MTV’s ‘The Challenge’

Scott Foley, known for his roles in popular TV dramas, has a different entertainment preference at home. He and his wife, Marika Domińczyk, are avid fans of reality TV, especially MTV's The Challenge.

"Nothing excites us more than a new season of The Challenge!" says Foley, 52, in an exclusive interview with Us Weekly. "After 20 years of watching, we feel connected to each contestant, understanding their fears and strengths. For us, it's pure comfort."

The Challenge began in 1998 as part of a spinoff from two notable MTV shows: The Real World and Road Rules. Infamous for its competitive aspect, reality stars face physical and mental challenges for cash prizes. Over the years, The Challenge has flourished, surviving both of its predecessor shows. To date, it has produced 40 seasons and 12 spinoff seasons across six continents. 

While Foley loves curling up on the couch with his family — including daughter Malina, 14, and sons Keller, 12, and Konra, 10 — he likely won’t be trying out for the show himself. His acting career fills his days with adventure. For example, in his latest film, La Dolce Villa, he spent eight weeks in Italy, an enticing draw for accepting the role.

"I read the script and thought there was no way it would shoot in Italy," Foley explained to Collider. "When they confirmed the location, I knew I had to do it." The scenic locations in Italy significantly enhance the film's storytelling.

The romantic comedy, which premiered on Netflix on February 13, features Foley as Eric, a father racing to dissuade his daughter, Olivia (played by Maia Reficco), from buying a dilapidated Tuscan villa. Upon arrival, he discovers beauty, romance, and a new purpose awaiting him.

"The film explores critical relationships," Foley detailed. "It highlights his connection with his daughter and how they confront a growing divide since losing his wife. Eric opens himself to new love and a fresh start, leaving behind his past. You witness his revitalization and the growth of his character."
