Scott Wolf Remembers Treat Williams: 'It Was a Gift to Work with Him'
Scott Wolf reflects on his time alongside the late Treat Williams in Everwood. The two actors developed a strong friendship despite portraying antagonistic characters on the show that aired from 2002 to 2006.
In a recent interview with TV Insider, Wolf, now 56, expressed fond memories of Williams, who tragically passed away in June 2023 at age 71. "Loved Treat and his wife and their kids," Wolf shared. He described Williams as "a beautiful actor" with a warm presence.
Everwood's Heartfelt Narrative
In Everwood, Treat Williams played Dr. Andrew Brown. He was a neurosurgeon who moved his family from New York City to Everwood, Colorado, after his wife's untimely passing. Williams established a community medical practice in a nostalgic location, adding depth to the storyline.
Wolf joined the cast in season three as Jake Hartman, a new doctor who challenges Williams' character and the town's other doctor, Harold Abbott, played by Tom Amandes. The dynamic between characters allowed for dramatic tension while investing in the show's rich family-oriented narrative.
"My experience on Everwood was a wonderful one," reflected Wolf. He moved to Utah for filming, recalling, "Some amazing people on that show. Treat, rest his soul, Chris Pratt, Greg Smith, Emily VanCamp — just a beautiful cast."
Cherished Relationships and Reflections
Wolf noted his preference for a more collaborative relationship between his character and Williams’ on the show. "We were antagonistic, which was fun," he recounted. "I wish we could have explored a more connected dynamic."
Ultimately, Wolf found the experience precious, stating, "It was a gift to get to know his family." Many of his castmates, like Greg Smith, expressed similar sentiments about Williams after his death. Smith called the news "devastating," highlighting Williams' cherished qualities as a man and actor.
Similarly, Chris Pratt reflected on Williams, stating, "Both men were exceptional actors, wonderful husbands, fathers, and friends." Wolf currently stars as a doctor in multiple series, continuing his connection to the world of medicine and storytelling on screen.
