Sean Kingston Verdict: Singer and Mother Janice Turner Found Guilty in Fraud Case

Sean Kingston, known for his hit "Beautiful Girls," and his mother, Janice Turner, were found guilty in a fraud case. They were accused of scamming vendors out of goods worth $1 million.
The verdict came from a federal court in Florida. The trial concluded on March 28, with both Kingston and Turner facing serious charges. They each were convicted of one conspiracy count and four wire fraud counts, according to NBC News.
Sentencing is scheduled for July 11. Kingston, at 35, is currently under house arrest, while 61-year-old Turner has been placed in federal custody.
Details of the Fraud Scheme
The mother-son duo was accused of stealing luxury items, including cars and jewelry. They allegedly tricked vendors by falsely claiming to have initiated bank wire transfers. This claim was made clear in a press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office in the Southern District of Florida.

Kingston was arrested on May 23, 2024, shortly after Turner’s police custody during a raid at his Florida rental home. He waived his right to contest extradition and was moved to Florida. After posting bail, Kingston and Turner entered not guilty pleas.
Testimony and Defense
During the trial, which started on March 24, Turner testified about handling her son's finances irresponsibly. She claimed to have created fraudulent wire transfers. Turner explained that Kingston needed to sustain a celebrity lifestyle and that she had been misled by businesses previously. She defended her actions, arguing that the fake documents were intended to buy time for investigating the vendors' legitimacy.
Kingston opted not to testify. His defense attorney described him as "still a kid in his mind," suggesting he struggles to understand business processes. However, the prosecution countered this argument. "There's only one reason to create fake documents," remarked assistant U.S. attorney Marc Anton. "To trick someone."
