Sean Ono Lennon Embraces His Famous Heritage: 'It’s Honestly a Great Privilege'

Sean Ono Lennon, the son of music legends John Lennon and Yoko Ono, expressed pride when discussing his family heritage, PEOPLE reported. During the 2025 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, he shared his thoughts on balancing his father's legacy with his own music career.
"I don't see it as a burden; it's a great privilege," Sean stated, emphasizing the honor he feels in representing his father’s work. At 49 years old, he reflects on the significant role his father played in music and culture.

Sean notes that being John Lennon's son offers him the opportunity to contribute positively. "I feel lucky that I can do good by my dad," he explained. With John Lennon's tragic death in December 1980, Sean aims to continue the artistic impact his father had on the world.
At the Grammy event, Sean revealed his efforts to revive and share more of his father's music. He and Simon Hilton recently won an award for their work on a special edition of John Lennon’s album, "Mind Games," originally released in October 1973.
Since beginning his musical journey, Sean released three solo albums: "Into the Sun" (1998), "Friendly Fire" (2006), and "Asterisms" (2024). He has collaborated on various projects with different bands over the years.

Sean also shared plans to re-release classic projects. "Simon and I are working on the One to One concert, John and Yoko's last concert in Madison Square Garden," he said. They are remixing the recording and developing a film related to the performance.
Describing the 1972 concert, he remarked, "It was wild, with the performers in camouflage. The entire atmosphere felt like a radical statement." Sean Lennon remains dedicated to honoring his musical lineage while forging his own path in the industry.
