Selena Gomez Surprises Steve Martin and Martin Short with Their First SAG Awards

Selena Gomez made a memorable gesture by presenting SAG Awards to her "Only Murders in the Building" co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short after they missed the event, PEOPLE reported.
At the 2025 SAG Awards on February 23, the Hulu show won the award for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a comedy series. Martin Short also won his first-ever personal award for outstanding male actor in a comedy series. Unfortunately, Short couldn’t attend due to COVID-19, and presenters Joey King and Jack Quaid accepted the award on his behalf.
On March 12, Gomez, now 32, surprised her co-stars by handing over their awards online. In a shared video from the "Only Murders in the Building" Instagram account, Gomez approached Martin and Short, helped by co-star Michael Cyril Creighton and executive producer John Hoffman.
"And the SAG Award goes to Steve Martin and Martin Short," she announced while presenting the trophies. Short humorously pretended to collapse from the weight of his award, delivering a mock acceptance speech.
"I would like to thank the Academy and everyone in the crew... Whose names [I] just don't know," he joked.

Martin confirmed that this moment marked his first SAG Award win. Earlier, during the ceremony, Gomez had accepted the ensemble award on behalf of her co-stars and acknowledged their absence in her speech.
"We never win. This is so weird!" she joked. "Marty and Steve aren't here because, you know, they don't really care." She expressed gratitude to everyone involved, saying, "I take it home for all of us, and I'm bringing this back to New York for season 5. Thank you so much. I'm so grateful."
Short expressed his delight in a statement shared with PEOPLE. "The honor of being in "Only Murders in the Building" is the most spectacular compliment anyone could be given. The honor of being awarded by your peers is even greater. Thank you so so much."
