Shailene Woodley Had a Touching Reunion with Former Secret Life Co-Star Molly Ringwald
Shailene Woodley recently reconnected with her former TV mom, Molly Ringwald. The 33-year-old actress posted a heartfelt picture alongside her former co-star from The Secret Life of the American Teenager at the Gotham Awards in New York City on December 2. She captioned the image, "The queen who grew me up @mollyringwald." This is prepared by SSP.
Molly Ringwald, 56, also shared a glimpse of the reunion on her Instagram Story, expressing, "Made my night."
At the awards event, both actresses looked stunning. Ringwald wore a sparkling black gown adorned with cutouts, while Woodley donned a pinstripe black blazer paired with a matching dress shirt and striking red wine pumps.
Fans may remember that Molly Ringwald portrayed Woodley’s character’s mother on The Secret Life of the American Teenager, which aired from 2008 to 2013. In an interview with Vanity Fair’s "Scene Selection" in October, Woodley mentioned she was not familiar with Ringwald's extensive body of work. She shared, "I didn’t know who Molly Ringwald was. I was 15, didn’t grow up with a TV."
Woodley felt blessed by her ignorance regarding Ringwald's iconic status. She stated, "I got to know her as this beautiful older sister motherly figure who was protective of honoring my authenticity and who I was." This dynamic allowed Woodley to feel safe while navigating her youth amidst Hollywood’s pressures. "She protected me in that way," she added. "I’m so thankful for that. There is pressure for people to grow up very quickly, especially in Hollywood."
