Sister Wives' Janelle Brown Addresses Kody Brown's "Self-Absorption" in Their Marriage
In the recent episode of Sister Wives that aired on Nov. 3, Janelle Brown confronted her ex-husband Kody Brown about their past, asserting that he was "always" self-absorbed throughout their 30-year relationship. This meeting took a candid tone as the 53-year-old opened up during a meal with Kody, the father of her six children, who had been inquiring about a possible reconciliation after their split.
Janelle stated directly, "You complain about my independence, and I will complain about your selfishness and [you being] self-absorbed. You are a little bit." Kody sought clarification on whether her description pertained to recent events, particularly in the context of their divorce. Janelle quickly disagreed, stating, "No, maybe you always were."
She also highlighted the strained relationships Kody shares with their children, explaining this as a significant factor affecting their future. "The kids are all feeling very estranged from you," Janelle noted. "There’s a lot of nuances, and I can't be in the middle."
While discussing her feelings towards Kody, she admitted that she still feels some attraction to him. "I don't think we even exist in the same universe anymore," Janelle remarked. "I think you're awesome. Every time we talk, I still feel that you've got this little hook in me, or whatever. But I've been so happy [without you] that I don't foresee a long-term thing for us."
Janelle pointedly stated that Kody has not visited her home in two years, expressing that he is no longer the man she once married. Kody, who has seen many changes in his relationships, including splits with Christine Brown and others, claimed during this conversation that they had not touched on their situation. Janelle insisted otherwise, mentioning, "We've had so many conversations where I've said it’s done, we're done."
In a separate confessional, Kody, now in a monogamous relationship with Robyn Brown, elaborated on the topic of reconciliation. He discussed the complexities involved, suggesting that acknowledgment of past dynamics would be necessary. "I talk about reconciling with her because I'd like to be back in graces with my children," Kody shared. However, he recognized that reparations would involve a shift in power dynamics. "But I know that reconciling with her would require some kind of power game where I gave her all the power in the relationship," he explained.
Kody acknowledged that it might be fair for Janelle to have the power due to their earlier marriage dynamics being skewed in his favor. Nevertheless, he concluded, "But I’m not interested in that."
